Developing a culture of change and implementing successful change programs is key in large and global companies. Very often, change is the inevitable consequence of project implementation and how the change is managed impacts how successful a program or project will be.
Very surprisingly, project management literature or methodologies (e.g. PMI) are very quiet about the role of organizational change on project success factors. At the same time, project managers cannot ignore the effects that organizational changes may have on project outcomes, and vice versa. As clearly demonstrated by Henry A. Hornstein in his paper "The integration of project management and organizational change management is now a necessity" *, organisations must acknowledge the impact and importance of Organizational Change Management (OCM) on project success.
